Irvine International Academy Opens For Second School Year

Irvine, CA (August 19, 2022) – The Irvine International Academy opened its’ second year for all students from grades TK through 6th yesterday, August 18th. Students were welcomed by new leadership, new teachers, new curriculum and an increased number of classrooms.

“The first day of school is always exciting, especially as we welcome new students, teachers, staff and curriculum”, said Dr. Stefan Bean, Executive Director, Irvine International Academy. “There were a lot of lessons learned during our first year, but the foundation was set for student success, as witnessed by our strong math and science test scores. We remain undeterred in our mission to become the premier Mandarin immersion and STEAM charter school in the region.”

The 2022-23 school year has begun with the need for additional classroom space over last year, to accommodate this year’s students. “Demand necessitated us to expand to 13 classrooms,” said Dr. Bean. “All are fully staffed and prepared to provide our students with a great, challenging curriculum for the upcoming school year that builds on last year’s success.”

Student average test scores at the Irvine International Academy in math and science exceeded the latest posted average test scores from IUSD and Fletcher Dual Immersion Mandarin Charter School, and exceeded Fletcher’s scores in ELA. “For a first year of operation – or any for that matter – those test scores were quite impressive,” noted Dr. Bean. “With the integration of our STEAM curriculum this year, I’m confident our students will exceed these lofty results this year.”
