Chairman of the Board - Brett FreemanBrett Freeman joined the Irvine International Academy Board during the Summer of 2021. He has lived and studied or worked in China, Costa Rica, Spain, and Mexico. He is passionate about fostering cross-cultural understanding and educating children. He is a firm believer in creating a healthy, safe environment where children are nurtured, can develop their self-confidence, and form a strong sense of character. He was educated in the public school system, and received his undergraduate degree from Miami University in Ohio, and his MBA from UC Irvine.

Doug Husen, J.D.Mr. Husen serves as a Pastor at Crossroads Christian Church for nearly 20 years. He was Superintendent of Crossroads Christian School (1,000 K-12 students) in Corona. He was US Marketing Manager for Pacific Image Electronics, a Taiwanese based company. For 10 years, he worked as a Marketing Specialist for IBM creating plans and programs to address opportunities within schools, colleges, and university marketplace. He graduated from California Polytech Pomona University with a BS in Marketing Management.

Miller ZhuangMr. Zhuang was born and lived in China until the age of 21 when he was selected because he was in the top 5% academically of Chinese students. He was allowed to go overseas to study after China’s Cultural Revolution. After completing his college degree in Canada, he traveled to Venezuela and worked with Chinese immigrants for 7 years. Now a fluent Spanish speaker, the Latin culture prepared Mr. Zhuang to help in his work with 2008 earthquake survivors in Chengdu. Government leaders honored Miller for the 10-year anniversary of the Sichuan Earthquake. Mr. Zhuang was the guest speaker. Mr. Zhuang’s training system is still being used to train generation after generation of teachers to recognize and help troubled kids. Mr. Zhuang is greatly respected in Beijing education and speaks Mandarin, Cantonese, English, Spanish, and 3 other languages.

Treasurer of the Board - David SunA serial entrepreneur, and a scientist-turned business leader with 30+ years of experiences in scientific research & higher education, business and public sectors, Dr. Sun is currently Board Director and Chief Executive Officer of an Immuno-Cell Therapy Company. Dr. Sun has led organizations from startups to organizations with 1-2000 employees, and has consummated multi-billion dollars of transactions, in or with more than 20 countries. He was a cellular & molecular biologist and biochemist with MS from University of Toledo, and Ph.D training from Ohio State University, and MBA in Finance and Management from Anderson School at UCLA. He co-authored several scientific articles in peer reviewed journals and more than a dozen of patents.

Secretary of the Board - Felipe DelgadoFelipe Delgado belongs to a multicultural family deeply rooted in the Irvine community. He originally moved to Irvine in 1969, just two streets away from the Irvine International Academy school site. As a School Board member, he brings project management and execution skills developed over a 40+ year career working at Fluor Corporation. Prior to joining the IIA School Board, he supported the school as an active parent, served as a member of the IIA Facilities Committee, supported the physical education program and joined the Adult Dragon Team. Mr. Delgado speaks English and Spanish and his interests include skiing, basketball, Muay Thai, building model rockets, welding, and residential and automotive repair. He has two children enrolled in Irvine International Academy which deepens his commitment to the success of the school.

Molly ChangMrs. Molly Chang joined the Irvine International Academy Board during the Fall of 2022. She is currently a 6th grade teacher at the Cypress School District. Mrs. Chang has 38 years of teaching experience both in public and private schools. She was the teacher of the year for the Cypress School District to represent her school in its bid for Orange County district's teacher of the year. Besides teaching school students, in the past 20+ summers, Mrs. Chang also provided teacher’s training workshops on Western Methodology and English Conversation in China.
